Offploy scales social impact with Conga Composer API
Documents are foundational to every organisation, but at Offploy, they’re doing far more than supporting business processes. With Conga’s document automation solutions—and now the added power of Composer API—Offploy is streamlining complex legal requirements and creating tools that help people with criminal convictions move forward confidently. Offploy’s innovation with Conga is changing lives and scaling impact across the UK.
Offploy founder Jacob Hill joined us at Conga Connections EMEA for a keynote presentation highlighting the company’s experience with Conga’s document automation solutions.
Background and challenges
Offploy has a long-standing relationship with Conga. They initially chose Conga solutions to manage their paperwork-intensive environment—including lengthy funding applications, voluminous data-sharing agreements, case documentation and more. This heavy administrative burden made it nearly impossible to grow and scale.
Since their implementation, Offploy has relied on Conga Composer, Conga Grid and Conga Sign to escape the chaos of manual processes, handwritten forms and wet signatures—reducing paperwork by 80%. (You can learn more about why Offploy chose Conga—and the results they achieved—in this customer story.)
From deep data insights to beautiful, comprehensive project reports that support fundraising efforts, Conga technology helps the Offploy team to maximise their impact on society—and on the lives of individuals. Conga solutions have also empowered the company to quickly scale their operations, from serving around 300 people per year to now more than 1,000.
Looking to the future
Through strategic document automation, Offploy was able to increase their impact exponentially without making significant additions to headcount. This allows them to reinvest their funding into the work they do—so they can help more people and expand their services, rather than spending money on overhead.
With their internal operations streamlined, the team at Offploy turned their attention outward to figure out what comes next. They wanted to help solve some of the fundamental problems faced by past offenders—and they knew Conga could help them do it.
Taking the next step—with Conga
In the UK and parts of the EU, criminal offenders are required to disclose their convictions to employers, landlords, banks and other entities for a certain period of time after being sentenced. The problem is, there are hundreds of different offenses, each with a different disclosure period—and failure to provide the correct information is also a criminal offense.
Offploy turned to Conga to help address this challenge. The Conga team came up with an elegant solution: the Disclosure Calculator. This API-based tool allows an individual to fill out a simple form and calculate exactly how long they need to disclose their conviction—eliminating the risk that they might interpret this complex law incorrectly. Using Conga Composer, they can generate a printable certificate containing the required information.
However, keeping a hard copy of this information isn’t practical for many people. So the Disclosure Calculator allows the person to export their disclosure document and email it to themselves—so it’s easily accessible at any time. This makes the Disclosure Calculator far more useful, creating a simplified and streamlined process for people who may not have their own computers.
Composer API in action
Offploy’s Disclosure Calculator is made possible by the Conga Composer API—which lets you create automated documents on any website, platform, or application using data from any system of record. The API enables a customer’s platform to communicate directly with the Conga Cloud, so you can easily fetch data, generate documents, collect signatures and more—all with the click of a button.
The applications for Composer API are practically limitless. It simplifies the flow of data between systems, allowing companies to deliver a seamless experience with every interaction—and even offer the self-service options today’s customer demand.
