Kalixia generates documents 160x faster with Conga Advantage Platform 

Challenge

Kalixia renews most of its provider contracts on a rotating, annual basis according to specialty. This requires generating and distributing thousands of digital documents on a very tight schedule.

Previously, Kalixia captured provider data in Salesforce and automated document generation using Conga Composer. However, this workflow was time-consuming. The initial implementation could only provide data and retrieve the PDF one document at a time, resulting in a five-day turnaround for 7,000 contracts. This made it impossible to meet the company’s 24-hour turnaround goal and ensure new contracts were delivered by their anniversary date, putting them at risk of noncompliance and penalties.  

Kalixia knew it needed to speed up its workflow with a solution that could take its document automation a step further without having to disconnect from their Salesforce environments. However, despite its urgent need, the business was concerned about the time and effort it would take to migrate to another tool, especially where its highly complex, variable templates were concerned. Any changes would likely require multiple rounds of testing and approval, and resources were limited at the small, 30-person company. 

Solution

While talking with the Conga team in France, Kalixia learned of a new offering in Conga’s product portfolio that promised significant performance gains—the Conga Advantage Platform. The technology seemed like the answer the company had been seeking, as Kalixia was pleased with Conga Composer’s document generation capabilities for its Salesforce use cases and had no interest in replacing its on-platform workflows. Discovering they could leverage the Advantage Platform while continuing to generate documents within Salesforce–without modifying their existing templates–sealed the deal.

Unlike the old workflow that required Kalixia to work with documents one at a time, generating documents on the Advantage Platform processes them simultaneously in batches, in a loop. It sends a batch of data from Salesforce to Conga Composer via the Conga API, and once the document generation is complete, it executes retrieval. Any errors are flagged for follow-up at a later date.

Kalixia leveraged the Conga API to enhance its template-creation and document generation capabilities by integrating the Conga Advantage Platform with Salesforce–without any document modification. The company only needed to allocate a single developer’s time to write the business logic required to send and retrieve documents. Since the templates remained unchanged, internal teams were spared multiple rounds of back-and-forth testing and approval. The overall implementation effort was minimal from start to finish. Now, powered by the Advantage Platform, Kalixia continues to generate documents within Salesforce using Conga Composer, but with significantly better performance.  

Results

When Kalixia and Conga initially started the conversation around the Advantage Platform, no one was 100% sure what level of performance improvement to expect, given Kalixia’s extremely high-volume use case. They thought perhaps it could be five or even ten times better.

The actual payoff was nothing short of groundbreaking: For a batch of 4,000 documents, the platform reduced generation time by 99%—approximately 160 times faster.

The benefits Kalixia realized from this modern, high-speed solution don’t end here. The company also gained enhanced control and error management capabilities.

And since Kalixia was able to migrate its templates to the Advantage Platform as-is, the company made these major strides forward with minimal investment in time and resources.
