Boston Scientific Wins Inspire Award for Innovation

Each year, the Conga Inspire Awards recognize organizations that embrace innovation, shining a spotlight on Conga customers who are setting the standard for what great looks like across the commerce chain. Spanning a variety of categories, the Inspire Awards EMEA highlight achievement in Commerce Excellence, Digital Impact, Innovation, and more.

The Innovation Award is presented to a customer that demonstrates a clear, ambitious, and disciplined roadmap for modern commerce and contracting, showcasing how they plan, prioritize, and execute transformation at scale.

Boston Scientific is a global medical technology company dedicated to transforming lives through innovative medical solutions that improve patient health around the world. Across Europe, the company supports a broad portfolio of healthcare solutions while navigating diverse commercial models and country-specific requirements.

To support continued growth across the region, Boston Scientific’s Revenue Management and Commercial IT teams set out to modernize the pricing, quoting, contracting, and rebate management processes behind its commercial operations. Their goal was to create a more connected, scalable foundation that could accommodate sophisticated commercial models. They also wanted to improve consistency, agility, and control within their operational workflows.

Business Outcomes

Challenge

Operating across Europe meant Boston Scientific needed to manage pricing, quoting, rebates, and contract processes across multiple countries, product portfolios, and customer segments — not to mention the many region-specific requirements. Complex commercial offerings and sophisticated rebate agreements are important to the company’s revenue strategy, but its existing processes and systems were not designed to support that level of complexity at scale.

Fragmented systems and manual processes also made it challenging for sales, commercial operations, pricing, finance, and IT teams to collaborate and maintain visibility across complex deals. Revenue growth and margin expansion were among the company’s most important financial goals for the region, so Boston Scientific needed a more automated and integrated approach. They were looking for a technology partner that could support guided selling, flexible pricing, approvals, document generation, large quote configurations, and complex rebate structures without requiring extensive customization as business needs evolved.

Solution

Boston Scientific selected Conga Advantage CPQ  and Conga Rebate Management and worked with Conga Professional Services to build a more scalable foundation for revenue management across Europe. Implemented as part of the Conga Advantage Platform, the solution brings key commercial processes together to support more consistent management of pricing, quoting, contracting, and rebates.

A critical part of this initiative was addressing the sophisticated rebate agreements that are foundational to Boston Scientific’s commercial model across Europe. Boston Scientific and Conga co-developed to ensure the rebate functionality would support their complex requirements and allow the company to manage commercial agreements, pricing, and rebate structures more effectively.

Conga Advantage CPQ also gives Boston Scientific the flexibility to adapt as its products, pricing models, markets, and customer requirements evolve. Rather than relying on disconnected processes, teams across the organization can work together within a more integrated commercial framework.

Results

Boston Scientific began seeing measurable improvements immediately after the initial rollout in Italy and Benelux. More than 300 users were onboarded in those markets, and those users were able to generate more than 60 quotes within the first five days — representing approximately €650K in potential revenue.

Building on that early adoption, Boston Scientific has expanded the solution to nine additional EMEA countries — and implementation is currently underway in nine more. The company now has a more scalable foundation for commercial governance, pricing consistency, and rebate execution.

With Conga CPQ, Boston Scientific has been able to:

  • Reduce quoting times by 20% year over year for sales users in first two rollout regions (Italy and Benelux)
  • Enhance collaboration and visibility across commercial and IT teams
  • Accelerate revenue velocity by automating quote processes and reducing friction
  • Improve scalability and operational agility with flexibility to handle evolving needs

This initiative has also demonstrated the value of collaboration between Boston Scientific and Conga. By helping to shape rebate capabilities around its specific business requirements, Boston Scientific established a repeatable model that can support future regional expansion and broader revenue lifecycle transformation.
